Dorset Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers

Promoting traditional textile crafts across Dorset

Cattistock Show

Back on August Bank Holiday Monday, an intrepid group of our members met near Rampisham to set up the Guild Stall at the Cattistock Countryside Show. After an hour of so of concentrated effort arranging all our bits & pieces we could stand back and admire the results of our efforts…

We got a constant stream of visitors to our stand throughout the whole day, the eye catching display was quite a draw. Many people were just interested in our demonstrations of spinning and weaving but several also bought articles from our stand. Quite a few took away Guild leaflets and kits to take up our crafts, so we hope to see some of them at one of our Autumn meetings. We also made contact with spinners and weavers from other parts of the UK, some were already members of other Guilds, others had never heard of us so we were able to point them towards our National Association so they could find a Guild closer to home.

Last but not least, many thanks to the whole team – it wouldn’t have been such a successful and enjoyable day without you!
