Dorset Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers

Promoting traditional textile crafts across Dorset

Just a reminder to you all of the shows we are hoping to attend as a Guild this summer; there’ll be a list to sign up to at our June meeting next weekend, or you can contact us via the form below to let us know when you are available. There’s the Dorset Arts & Crafts, in its last year at Bovington, the County Agricultural Show at Dorchester in September, and the Cattistock Show, also known as the Ag Sports: as this one is less familiar to many of you, I’m adding the details below.

I am contacting you with the hope that you would like to attend the Cattistock Countryside Show this year (affectionately known as ‘Ag Sports’) which is held on the August Bank Holiday Monday (26th August) on Rampisham Down.

The show celebrated its 50th show last year and in the last 3 years has radically changed and grown, becoming much more of a show celebrating countryside traditions, pursuits, arts, crafts and food and providing a really fun, interesting and interactive day out for every member of the family.
The show has a significant equine presence, as well as dog classes throughout the day, a chicken show which this year will have a chicken auction at the end of the day.  It also has a large food and craft tent which the Dorset Farmers market are a large part of, along with lots of outside stands and entertainment for children.
We are very strict that the show remains a pure celebration of Dorset, and by that we mean that ONLY exhibitors and sponsors from Dorset can be part of the show, this has gone down very well with exhibitors, visitors and sponsors alike as it is something that non of the other shows do.  A final point you should be aware of is that all proceeds from the show go to supporting the Cattistock Hunt and its work across the countryside.
The visitors that attend come from a surprising distance (as far as Gloucester and Devon) with the majority obviously coming from Dorset.
We normally charge £50.00 for a stand but I would like to waiver this charge if you are able to demonstrate whilst you are on site. Is this possible?
I have attached our booking form and last years show leaflet for you to peruse.
I look forward to hearing from you.
